Content aware-
Use the marquee tool, lasso, or spot healing brush to select an area that you want to be filled with background.  With the marquee or lasso hit delete, select content aware, and hit enter. With the spot healing brush just click and drag on what you want.  If you want to make a panoramic photo, then combine all of the photos, select the background and use the marquee tool to select the entire image, then hit delete.

Be careful with this tool because it can fill in background with an image you did not want there.

Cinematic Orchestra - The Man With The Movie Camera

In other news, another giraffe died at the zoo.

Oliver Schwartzwald

This German photographer has some really beautiful still life shots. I also really like the ones he does that defy gravity.

Herik Bonnevier

I stumbled upon this site and thought of how product shots and display photographs are another form of a still life. This guy does some fun stuff with a dove.

Photos of children.

I was thinking about our discussion during the critique about photographing children, and it made me think of Jill Greenberg.

Her website has tons of awesome photos.

Yoko Ono Screams at MoMA

Imagine you travel to New York, go to MoMA to see all these amazing works of art you've always dreamed of seeing. Next a small Asian women walks up to a microphone and starts screaming. It sounds like a combination of bad porn and a hippo being attacked by an Alligator. Would this ruin your visit to the museum? Would this taint the pieces you worked so hard to come visit? Well, this is what Yoko has been up to. She graced museum goers with a repeat performance of her earlier performance piece ‘VOICE PIECE FOR SOPRANO & WISH TREE’. Here's the link, check it out and see if you think this is art. http://www.livingears.com/2010/09/yoko-ono-performs-voice-piece-for-soprano-wish-tree/ .

Another rule worth breaking is back lighting. Typically you want the light source behind the photographer, not the subject. But in many cases back lighting causes some great atmospheric qualities.
